Besides the fact that it’s the main entry point to Sardinia for people arriving via ferries or cruise ships, Olbia also has an airport of its own, which was renovated a few years ago, into a modern terminal.
If you’re coming from UK, you have flights to Olbia airport coming from Edinburgh, Manchester, Leeds, Gatwick, Birmingham and Bristol, via a number of different low cost companies, like Ryanair or easyJet. When you land here you will notice that the terminal has been adapted for use by people with special needs. It has fitted restrooms, wheelchair ramps, telephones and elevators, plus over three dozen parking spaces reserved for people with problems. In the arrival terminal you will also find an information desk, Internet kiosks, cahspoints and offices. You will find any information you need here, from things you can do to hotels where you can sleep.
While many other airports are simpler, this one has restaurants and shopping facilities, which you can use as soon as you land. You will find shops both in the area before and after the security line, as well as newspaper stands, banks and even a pharmacy. If you want to get a coffee you can do it at the Kara Kiosk, which is a café placed in open air. You can also serve cakes or pastries in this place, plus you have access to a wine bar, snaks or an Italian restaurant. If you need to smoke, you will find a café where you are allowed to do it before you get on the plane. The business centre allows for meetings, in rooms both small and large.
From Olbia you can get into the city either with a car, rented at the airport, or via bus or airport transfer. Some of the companies that offer car rental at the airport are Hertz, Avis, AM Service, Matta, Smeralda Express, Italy by Car, Eurorent and many more.
